Well this was a fun ass project. Donny wanted to propose to his girlfriend and he wanted to do it in a way she's never expect so he concocted this scheme to have me photograph him holding up a sign saying "Will you marry me?" He used an orange clipboard and he wanted me to make it black and white but with the clipboard standing out and bright. So we did it, as you see above and got the photo printed 8x10 at Rite-Aid. Then he framed it, wrapped it in a circular ad, and gave it to her telling her that it was something I did for them for their maternity photos. She was totally shocked and yes, she said "Yes." It was a great project!

What an awesome idea! How special! The photo came out great! Too often you see black and white photos where the photographer has taken the photo in colour and not given any thought to the dark light, the shadows the contrast... all the elements that s/he is going to need to make a GOOD b&w photo. You, on the other hand, seem to have taken these aspects into consideration when taking the original photo. There are wonderful elements of contrast, of brilliant lights and shadows. This works wonderfully.
